Having a child with multiple disabilities creates a future of uncertainty. As a parent, one of the most profound worries is what will happen when I can no longer care for her. That's why I made the decision to purchase a home, one that could be modified to meet her unique needs, a place that will give her the ability to live as independently as possible while still providing comfort and stability.

It gives me peace of mind, knowing that when I am no longer here, she will be in a space built with her needs in mind. But this peace was shattered when, over Easter weekend, a wind and rainstorm caused the ceiling to collapse in my daughter's room. This wasn't just any room, it's the one that holds her carefully curated clothing collection, chosen over the years to accommodate her sensory challenges.

It houses her essential disability support tools, hearing aids, sensory aids, and treasured belongings. The destruction was immediate and devastating, causing chaos in her already complex world. What I didn't expect in this nightmare was the fight with our insurance company. Despite clear damage, Travelers Canada Insurance has done nothing but fight against providing any coverage. Items that are critical to her daily navigation of life, like her hearing aids, now destroyed.

Her sensory aids, her routines, her tools for living independently, all gone. Their response, an outright denial of the claim while still acknowledging their administrative errors made in the haste of their decision. Yet, amid this, there was one group that showed up, and for them, I am incredibly grateful: MOPS Inc. Restoration. From the moment they arrived, Stephanie Rayton, Aaron Benton, CPC, Chris Pacheco, and their entire team offered unwavering support.

Their immediate response was "We're here to help." Their professionalism, compassion, and dedication to making the space safe and ready to be rebuilt for my daughter again was remarkable.
